An Update from the Lansdowne Interfaith Pantry

Here is a portion of a note from Bill Selway, Pantry Director, sent after his visit to St. Christopher’s:
Thanks so much for inviting me to your church and speak to your congregation about our food pantry mission. As I told Laura Lee, I was very impressed with the feel of your faith community … they seem very sincere and committed. There is a very healing presence there too … it is palpable for anyone like myself, coming from the outside for the first time.
The Food Pantry has invited St. Christopher’s to be an official member of the interfaith connection that makes up the Pantry. This would mean that St. Christopher’s would be recognized on the letterhead. Other than that, we would keep on doing what we are doing – contributing financial from time to time, pray for the Pantry, and Laura Lee would keep volunteering. She probably wouldn’t mind company from other St. Christopher’s parishioners from time to time.
Our relationship with the Lansdowne Interfaith Pantry grows stronger all the time. As a result of your generosity, St. Christopher’s is able to deliver another check for $1,030. The congregation raised $530 as part of our Lenten alms giving. The Mission Committee, with vestry approval, is matching that amount up to $500 from the mission budget. That is more than three weeks’ worth of food for our neighbors in need.
